A June Miracle

11 Jun

Something happened on Tuesday that NEVER happens. It actually rained all day long–in JUNE! We are in the middle of one of the worst droughts in California history, and even though this half-inch or so of rain won’t do much to help our dire situation, it certainly was a welcome sight. It’s almost as if I could hear the parched earth sighing with relief. The grass already looks greener and the flowers brighter. I don’t want to jinx it, bufkiwers june 10 5t maybe this is a sign that things are about to change. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Take a look at my happy flowers!

August Light

9 Aug

aug 9 14 1It’s a lovely August evening and I just couldn’t resist taking some photographs of the garden. Ever so slightly the light is beginning to change, signaling that the end of summer is approaching.

But all is well. Summer always comes around again.

Enjoy the burst of color!

The Last Lazy Days of Summer

16 Aug

School starts in less than two weeks and once again, I’ll have the house to myself in the mornings. Normally by the end of August, I’m more than ready to get the kids and Rene out of the house and get myself back to a more definite schedule.  But I feel differently this year.

This past summer has been the most relaxing and peaceful summer I can ever remember and I’m actually sad that it’s ending. And I don’t think it’s the summer this year that’s been different, although the weather has been more glorious than ever.

I think I’m the one who’s changed.

This past year I’ve finally reached a point where I’ve learned to be present enough to thoroughly enjoy every single moment of my life, and all along, that simple little concept is all I ever
needed to be happy.

So I’ll leave you with some new photos of my flower garden in the hopes that the incredible colors of these flowers will help inspire you to look around at the beauty that surrounds you. Join me in enjoying the last lazy days of summer!

More Summer Flowers

11 Jul

Why is it so difficult to write sometimes? Is is the lovely summer weather that makes me so languid and lazy? Or is it the sound of the wind chimes blowing in the sea breeze? Lately I’ve been such a procrastinator that I’ll do just about anything to avoid sitting down at the computer–including taking photographs of my garden. Perhaps these flowers will become my muse and help inspire me to get back on the computer and WRITE! Or maybe they will inspire you….
