Springing

12 Mar

The rain is here and the flowers are singing! The caterpillars are happily stuffing themselves with milkweed leaves. I hope you enjoy these most recent photos of my garden. I have a feeling it’s going to be a spectacular spring!

The Miracle of Rain

11 Apr

Like magic, the rains came back this year. It’s been a very long drought, and although we’re not yet where we need to be in Santa Barbara, we’re definitely in better shape now than we have been for the past five parched years. The hills are green and flowers are blooming everywhere!

My garden is so happy!

A Little Taste of Spring

26 Feb

I’m wishing for dark cloud and rainstorms, but in the meantime, I’m enjoying the little taste of spring right outside my front door. Thought you might, too.

Spring is Here!

20 Mar

flower 7Today is the first day of spring and the proof is right outside my front door. Sorry to those of you who feel like you’re still stuck in the thick of winter, although I’m hoping these photographs might send some cheer your way. I so love this time year–the birds are busy composing their symphonies, the Liquid Ambar trees are fluttering their lacy lime green leaves and nature’s atomizer is spritzing the scent of Pitasporum and Star Jasmine in the air. Lovely! Now all we need is some rain…

Spring in Santa Barbara

6 Mar

People in other parts of the country say we don’t have seasons in California but I beg to differ. Our seasons just blend into each other with a little less fanfare. I took these photos while out walking this morning and here is my proof that Spring has indeed arrived  in Santa Barbara.

Saturday Afternoon in the Garden

27 Apr

I spent the afternoon in the garden and although my muscles are sore, I feel such a sense of accomplishment! Thought I’d share some of the results with you!

Salpiglossis (Velvet Flower) is my favorite, but is very sensitive and will often die if you look at it wrong!
